Catriona

My name is Catriona - 29. I struggled with my weight for the past 8 years. I had tried Weightwatchers on numerous occasions, Lipotrim and good old calorie counting. I even tried the intragastric balloon six years ago. Each time I would lose a couple of pounds, finish the diet and gain them back again with a few extra pounds. As you can see by my pre-op picture I went up to a whopping 114kg.

I had the roux-en-y gastric bypass (and even better it is keyhole) on 19 June 2009. With the key hole there was a nice quick recovery. Since then I have gone down to 58kg. I have gone back to ballet and tap dancing. I have started kayaking and swimming. I am now doing all the stuff I was doing until I put on all the weight.

November 2009 after my own surgery I started up Cork Support Group for Weightloss Surgery for people who have underwent or who are undergoing surgery. They can come along by themselves or with family members to ask questions or just listen. It is a great place to come if they have any worries and to get comfort if they are struggling. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month and have a great chat.
